Things You'll Need:
- Nail clipper
- Pure tea tree oil
- Cotton swabs
- Apple cider vinegar
- Warm water
- Lavender oil
- Basin
- Clean towel
- Grapefruit seed extract
- Pure oregano oil
- Olive oil
- Vick's Vapo-Rub
-
Step 1
Clip your nails with a clean nail clipper. Apply pure tea tree oil to the infected area with a cotton swab. Repeat three times a day.
-
Step 2
Mix two quarts warm water, one cup apple cider vinegar and at least ten drops of lavender oil in a basin. Immerse the infected nails for 20 minutes every day and then dry with a clean towel. This solution helps to balance the pH of the skin, reduces infection and increases resistance against fungi attacks and similar infections.
-
Step 3
Dip a cotton swab in a mixture of equal parts lavender and tea tree oil. Dab it on the nail infection two times a day.
-
Step 4
Purchase a solution of grapefruit seed extract from a local grocery store. Mix 100 drops of the extract in a half full glass of water. Apply the mixture to the nail with a cotton swab twice a day.
-
Step 5
Apply pure oregano oil to the nail twice a day. If the oil stings, dilute it with a few drops of olive oil. Cover the nail completely with the solution so it is absorbed into the skin.
-
Step 6
Use "Vick's Vapo Rub" to treat the infected nail. The oils in the product act as a strong anti-fungal ointment and help speed up the treatment.
-
Step 7
Make an appointment with a doctor if a home remedy doesn't heal the nail infection, the infection worsens or you have a medical condition that may cause complications. Follow the doctor's prescribed treatment.
