How to Convert an ICO Image to a BMP

An ICO image is used by Windows for icons. They're made in standard sizes and composed of several images. The most useful piece of information regarding an ICO image is that it can be transparent. A BMP file is a standard graphic file that can be any size or resolution. If you need to convert your ICO image to a BMP just follow these steps to learn how.

Instructions

1. Download the software program "Image Converter Plus" from imageconverterplus.com. Click "Download" then save it to your desktop. If you don't have a high speed Internet connection then you need to download the download manager program directly below it.

2. Find the program on your desktop. Double click on the icon to run the program.

3. Locate the ICO graphic then right click on it and choose "Convert To." Click "Customer Conversion" in the submenu.

4. Select all the files you want to convert to BMP from ICO. Choose BMP as the desired format from the submenu.

5. Widen the "Save Images in BMP Format" window. Make any necessary changes to the depth of color and the resolution.

6. Adjust the color quantization window to reduce the number of colors used while keeping the quality of the image the same. If you do this, select "Yes" under dither to alert you of any errors that may occur during the adjustment of color quantization.

7. Select the "Start" button when finished to convert the ICO image to a BMP.
