Step 1
Find a wave section that is about to break.
-
Step 2
Begin a bottom turn from the center of the wave face.
-
Step 3
Drift on your surf board towards the lip at a 20 or 30 degree angle.
-
Step 4
Stay low and center your gravity over your back foot once you are on the curling lip and then shift your weight from your back foot's toe to heel edge once on the roof of the lip.
-
Step 5
Focus on the line so you can decide how long you want to try to float and avoid any possible obstacles.
-
Step 6
Position your surf board so that the nose faces the back of the wave so that the board slides along the top of the wave. Maintain your balance while you glide across the wave.
-
Step 7
Begin to look for a spot to land once you start to slow down or the wave begins to close out.
-
Step 8
Ride off the falling lip or air off heavier waves. Brace yourself to land by placing your board flat against the wave face while keeping a wide stance with knees bent to absorb the shock of landing.
-
Step 9
Use the speed you gained for your next bottom turn.
-
Step 1
Follow the steps 1 through 5 as listed in the above section.
-
Step 2
Pump your surf board for speed while riding on the lip. Lift your board to the crest as you feel it drop. Repeatedly pumping your board maintains the float for a longer amount of time.
-
Step 3
Look for landing spot once you start to feeling yourself slow down or the wave begins to close out.
-
Step 4
Ride off the falling lip or air off the wave. Brace yourself to land by placing your board flat against the wave face while keeping a wide stance with knees bent to absorb the shock of landing.
-
Step 5
Do your next bottom turn.
