1
Select the picture you are going to use. Choose one with a focal point that you can leave in color while changing the surrounding area to black and white. Make a working copy of this picture, and save it.
-
2
Set the "Zoom" slider to zoom in on the object you want to remain in color. This makes it easier to work with the object later in the project.
-
-
3
Point your mouse to the "Edge Finder" in the tool bar. Then place the mouse at the edge of the object you want to remain in color. You now have crosshairs instead of a pointer.
-
4
Move the edge-finder tool to another position on the object you intend to remain in color. Click. Repeat this process until you have gone around the entire object. Your last click returns you to the starting point.
-
5
Click on the white box that indicates where you began. You now have an animated, dashed line surrounding the object you intend to remain in color.
-
6
Choose "Selection" in the upper-left corner of your screen. The "Edge Finder" dialog box opens. Click "Invert." This changes the selection from the focal point to the rest of the photo.
-
7
Pick "Black and White" from the "Effects" menu. Your selected area changes to black and white, while the focal object remains in its original color.
