Class reunions can often be an awkward time. Old high school friends that have lost touch try to reconnect, but what's there to talk about. A video slideshow of old and new photographs can be the perfect conversation starter for a class reunion of all sizes.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Yearbook
  • Senior pictures
  • Envelopes addressed to you
  • Computer
  • Scanner
  • Slideshow program
  • Music
  1. Step 1

Use a computer and scan in senior pictures of every classmate. Use a class yearbook for senior photos and other activity photos.

  2. Step 2

Send a request in class reunion invitations. Ask classmates to send you a few of their favorite family photos from past years and from the present.

  3. Step 3

Collect all photos and get them saved in one folder on your computer or on a CD. Keep them sorted by person to help you find whose photos you still need when you are ready to make your slideshow.

  4. Step 4

Use a photo slideshow program like Windows Movie Maker to create a video using all the old and new photos you have collected.

  5. Step 5

Start a new project using the software, and save all photos to the project. Start with old class photos and activities and end with the new photos.

  6. Step 6

Save some of the favorite songs of the year when you graduated to the video. The software allows you to use the music as background while it flips through the photos.

  7. Step 7

Record the slideshow on a recordable DVD and play the video at your class reunion.

Tips & Warnings
  • Label each senior photo in the slideshow program.
  • Include some old teacher photos. Classmates love reminiscing about the teachers too.
  • If you have a large class, one senior photo and one recent photo can be displayed at the same time using the options on the slideshow making software.
  • Don't leave anyone out. Try very hard to have at least one photo of every classmate.
  • Don't forget to have all the equipment you'll need to show the video at the class reunion. A projector attached to a laptop computer with sound system would work the best.

on 11/12/2009 I am only 2 weeks into the planning phase of a class reunion DVD photo/movie presentation. My class graduated in 1977! My problem is: I've contacted class members via Facebook and emails, with still - many classmates out there remaining to be contacted. My issue at hand is that I have yet to hear back from anybody in response to my requests for photos – (sent out twice, in two weeks). I have a long way to go, but I'm a bit "perplexed" as to the apparent lack of interest. Is there anyone out there who can give me some magical advice to get my class members to RESPOND? I really thought this would take off like wildfire - Actually, I am very surprised! Our class reunion has not been planned yet - but we've all turned 50+ so I was looking forward to doing something with that thought (theme) in mind. I wanted to work on this with a set goal of completion in late Spring of 2010 - early S...
