On April 22, 1979, a musical comedic force was born when John Belushi and Dan Akroyd debuted their Blues Brothers act on the comedy show "Saturday Night Live." Since then, the Blues Brothers have become cultural icons and an important fixture on the cool scene of blues and jazz. Follow these steps if you are looking to be a Blues Brother.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Get the style down. The Blues Brothers' most distinctive characteristic is their dress. Dark suits with thin ties and high-water slacks are rounded out by cool jazz fedoras and dark sunglasses. Put the outfit together by shopping at thrift and vintage stores to get the right look.
Step2
Put the band back together. Anyone who's seen the original "Blues Brothers" movie know that the overarching mission of the brothers is to put the defunct band back together. Get your buddies away from their spouses and posh jobs by telling them that you're "on a mission from God." Be relentless about your request, never taking no for an answer.
Step3
Cause some trouble. You'll never be a Blues Brother unless you cause some trouble and embarrassment in public. Maybe the Blues Brothers were just trying to apply some pressure by asking diners at a posh restaurant "How much for the wife and kids?" or maybe they just wanted to shake things up by throwing food across the table. Either way, you've got to stir up a little innocent trouble to be a Blues Brother.
Step4
Find a jazz and blues superstar to duet with. Aretha Franklin, John Lee Hooker and James Brown are just a few of the starlit names that appear with the Blues Brothers in their film. These blues and jazz greats battle and sing with the Blues Brothers, who take the magical events as a matter of course. Find some of your own jazz and blues legends to sing with to be a Blues Brother.
