Landing a new trick on the water is about the best feeling in the world. And the Tweetybird is one of the more difficult feats out there which only a handful of diehards even attempt. It's pretty much a Whirlybird done in the flats. Also known as a tantrum mobius with an overhead handle pass. It's one trick that not only takes a lot of skill, but mucho strength in the legs.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Body of Water
  • Boat
  • Driver and observer
  • Wakeskate
  • Ski jacket
  • Ski rope

Step1
Set up for your cut with a hard progressive edge to build up speed.
Step2
Shift to the toeside edge. Square your shoulders and back. Stand tall. Turn your body a little more so your back starts to head towards the boat. This helps the rope have a bit of slack. Throw your head straight back (not to the side, but straight back) and kick yourself around. The transition to your toeside is the key.
Step3
Keep your arm bent. Keep the handle tight.
Step4
Start to spot your landing while your legs catch up to your body in the air.
Step5
Bring your arm down to mid-body to stop your rotation to land.
Step6
Land as though you were doing a completely tantrum landing. Bend your knees to absorb the impact. Keep the rope under control.
Step7
Celebrate because you just pulled off something totally sweet that only a few are skilled enough to master.

Tips & Warnings

  • To attempt the Tweetybird, you should already be able to do the Tantrum, get an excellent pop without having to cut hard, and the Backside 360.
