Add value to your resume with professional networking certification. Prospective employers will see that you've gained important technical know-how and are likely to complete any project. Cisco networking certification is key for embracing today's Web 2.0 technologies and formats as well. Become a CCDA, or Cisco Certified Design Associate, and innovate the human network.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know that the CCDA is first in line for the series of Cisco Certified Design Professional certification. Realize that in the past, CCDA candidates were required to complete CCNA training and certification first. Now the CCNA isn't mandatory for this particular series, but basic LAN and WAN understanding and skills are expected.

  2. Step 2

Learn Cisco networking design skills with CCDA training. Check out the Cisco website. See various certification series requirements and how they're all related. Discover skills needed to become a CCDA. Find Cisco approved training facilities and schools in your region with the "Participating in the Program" link.

  3. Step 3

Look for a school or facility that offers Cisco training programs and courses. Although many community colleges offer Cisco networking courses, they may not offer higher level certification courses.

  4. Step 4

Note, that many private training facilities offer all levels of Cisco networking certification course work. You can find course delivery in an online or a lecture format. Compare tuition prices and make sure courses are Cisco approved before enrolling.

  5. Step 5

Realize typical official Cisco certificate training requires rapid, progressive and successful achievement of concentrated coursework. Prepare for the costs of taking multiple courses to complete certifications and separate testing fees.

  6. Step 6

Choose independent learning to save money. Intensive studying, comprehension and memorization are necessary. Certification testing scores must be high in order to pass and earn certification.

  7. Step 7

Complete the "Designing for Cisco Internetwork Solutions (DESGN)" training to test for and become a CCDA. Typical course curriculum covers the Cisco approved CCDA material. Find programs taught by certified instructors that include the Cisco network design introduction and fundamental networking knowledge.

  8. Step 8

Explore course details before enrolling in a Cisco certification program and make sure the school or training facility is Cisco approved. Become a CCDA once you've successfully mastered the curriculum and completed certification testing. Pass the 640-863 DESGN required exam.
