She's one of your best friends, has seen you through thick and thin, and until now, you couldn't imagine your wedding without her being there. But since your friend has become a bridesmaid, she's a nightmare. Firing a bridesmaid is a difficult and delicate endeavor but you can do it as a last resort.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
Make a list of all the transgressions committed and consider the severity of each one. Try to emotionally disconnect from this process. Decide when this bridesmaid's actions are simply the result of a busy schedule or driven by malice.
Step2
Seek counsel from people close to you whose opinions you trust. See the situation with more clarity with outsider's input. Ask for their honest opinions about your bridesmaid's actions and what the repercussions are for the wedding day.
Step3
Talk to your bridesmaid about her actions. Give her an opportunity to defend herself before you cutting her from the wedding party. Thoughtfully consider her responses. Genuine apologies and promises to reform are acceptable, while challenges and denials indicate otherwise.
Step4
Make the decision to fire her and do it. Explain the value of her friendship and the desire to stay friends. If severing the friendship, tell her that she is no longer a part of your bridal party and the actions which led to your decision.

Tips & Warnings

  • Think long and hard about your reasons for firing your bridesmaid. If you plan to fire her and maintain a friendship, accept some of the blame for the situation.
