Villanova University was founded in 1842 by the Order of St. Augustine. This Roman Catholic university is located in the suburban outskirts of Philadelphia; from Villanova, it's an easy jaunt to New York City or Washington, D.C. In the suburbs surrounding Villanova, you'll find the historical landscape of Valley Forge and the thriving shopping mecca of King of Prussia.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Check online for tour schedules. The school's website has a monthly events calendar listing available tours. There's no set tour schedule throughout the year and tours are offered only on certain Saturdays. Always check ahead before you go.
Step2
Park in the main lot located on Lancaster Avenue. You don't need a parking pass.
Step3
Check in at the admissions building. Arrive 15 minutes early for the group admissions presentation. This lasts about an hour and gives you and your parents a chance to ask questions.
Step4
Join the group walking tour directly after the presentation. Wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather. This student-led tour lasts 90 minutes. Your tour guide will be happy to answer your questions and give you a chance to interact with the daily student life on campus.
Step5
Attend Villanova's fall open house. Check online for dates and information about how to register. Also, scan the calendar on their website to see when Villanova will be coming to your area. The school often sends representatives to different parts of the country to give students a chance to get to know their programs. You can also take a virtual tour on the website if Villanova isn't coming to your town and you can't get to Pennsylvania.
Step6
Spend some time in the surrounding area. Ask the students where they like to eat, shop and visit off campus. Get a sense of the kinds of places you'll be spending time when you aren't on campus. One bite of the local chili cheese fries and you'll feel right at home.
