To perform a frontside bigspin on a wakeskate, you need to already be comfortable with doing an ollie 180, a frontside body varial, and a frontside 360 shuv-it. A frontside bigspin consists of a frontside 360 shuv-it and a frontside 180 body varial. When you master this move, you can begin adding your own creative touches to spice it up, such as doing it over an obstacle.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Begin the frontside bigspin 10 feet out of the wake. When your wakeskate is flat, ensure there is a little bit of slack in the rope, which gives you time to do your trick before the boat pulls you away.

  2. Step 2

Let go of the handle with your forward-most hand and do a frontside 360 shuv-it.

  3. Step 3

Open your shoulders and pull up your feet as you watch the skate spin around. Begin rotating your body to ride fakie (where the board faces backwards).

  4. Step 4

Follow the last half of the spin with your feet and stomp on the board to land as it completes the rotation, and you're riding fakie. Use the rope to rotate your body varial.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep your eyes on your wakeskate at all times during the frontside bigspin.
  • Don't forget to jump forward, and not just up.
  • Do your best to land over your toes so that you can ride on the toeside edge of the wakeskate.
