How to Use an Old Bottle of Nail Polish

If you're someone who can't throw anything away, but your nail polish is so old it's getting thick, think about other uses for your polish. No matter how old it is, if it's still liquid, you can find employ it around the house.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Stop a run in your nylons or pantyhose. Paint around the snag with the nail polish. You can use any color if the area is not going to show. Clear is necessary otherwise.

  2. Step 2

    Thread a needle with ease. Dip the end of the thread into the nail polish. Wipe off excess, dry and thread.

  3. Step 3

    Prevent fabric from fraying by coating the edge that's unraveling with nail polish.

  4. Step 4

    Keep your shirt buttons on by coating their threads with nail polish. Dab a bit of clear nail polish on the center of the button and on the threads to reinforce the threads.

  5. Step 5

    Label poison containers with a brightly colored nail polish. Make an "X" both on the lid and front of the container. Let everyone in the household know what it means.

  6. Step 6

    Mark the outside ring of a dial type thermostat at the most comfortable setting with a thin line of red nail polish. If you get chilly, there's no need to find glasses to adjust the setting.

  7. Step 7

    Prevent rust on the bottom of metal cans by painting them with nail polish.
