1
Purchase a new grip at a sporting goods store. Grip types are either firm or cushioned.
-
2
Remove the old grip. Use needle-nose pliers or a screwdriver to remove the staple.
-
-
3
Unroll about 12 inches of the new grip and peel off the tape backing.
-
4
Attach the tapered end of the grip to the butt-cap. Holding the racket upside-down, the grip should be positioned to wrap clockwise for a right-handed player and the reverse for a left-handed player.
-
5
Brace the racket head against your upper leg or hip with the butt pointing upward. Grasp the handle in your left hand and the grip in your right for a right-handed wrap.
-
6
Rotate the racket slowly with your left hand and begin to the wrap the grip at an angle overlapping 1/16 to 1/4 inch. Unwrap the backing as you go. When you reach the top of the handle, trim the grip at an angle with scissors, and then finish wrapping it.

7
Secure the grip with finishing tape that comes with the grip. No staple is necessary.
