How to Find BitTorrent Files Online

Many programs use peer-to-peer (P2P) networking to share files. Napster and Limewire are just a few. Another method of P2P is something called a bittorrent network. Finding files on the Internet that are shared as BitTorrents is easy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • A BitTorrent client program (BitTorrent, BitTornado, Azureus)

Step1
Search the Internet for "bittorrents" or "torrent" sites. Many sites on the Internet serve as search engines for torrent files.
Step2
Go to the sites found in Step 1. Each site works slightly differently. Some are free and some require that you pay a membership fee to access archived files.
Step3
Enter terms into the search engines of the files that you are seeking. Often you will need to check many of these engines to find your files. Since these sites are for P2P network users, you can often post a request for a file that is hard to find.
Step4
Download the file the search engine takes you to. It tells the Torrent client where to find the file and start the download process.

Tips & Warnings

  • Copying software, movies, music and other forms of materials that are protected by copyrights is illegal.
  • Scan any files downloaded with a virus program to keep your computer from being infected.
