How to Bowl Spinner Style

If you wish that your bowling score was a bit higher, it may be time to learn a new bowling style. Spinner style is easy to learn. All it takes is a little determination and some practice, and you can bowl spinner style like a pro.

1. Understand your objective. Spinner style was invented to deal with unsavory lane conditions. Depending on where you bowl, the lane may be oilier than other places. Putting a spin on your ball reduces the time that your ball maintains contact with the floor. If you perfect the spinner style, less ball touches the lane.

2. Choose a ball that weighs between 10 and 12 pounds for optimum performance. To further facilitate the spin action, many spinners use plastic bowling balls.

3. Put a twist in the wrist. To achieve a good spin, rotate your wrist while releasing the ball so it rolls to the right or to the left of the lane.

4. Practice the stroker method. The only difference between the spinner style and the stroker style is the release. If you want to become a better spinner, practice bowling stroker.
