There are three varieties of bowling styles: stroker, spinner and cranker, each with pros and cons. If you want to bowl stroker style, you have to watch your form and practice until you perfect the techniques. Follow these steps.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep it smooth. The key to the stroker style is gaining moderate control over the ball while watching your form. The ball should appear to effortlessly glide from your fingertips down the lane. You rely on trajectory and speed, not muscle, to reach the end of the lane.

  2. Step 2

Get your timing right. Practice getting your timing right with your ball. You should both reach the near end of the lane at the same time, thus gliding into the shot.

  3. Step 3

When approaching the lane, your sliding foot should stop just before the line to let you gain control over the ball's trajectory.

  4. Step 4

Square your shoulders. Keep your shoulders square throughout, and your backswing should stay level with the ground most of the time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always follow good bowling etiquette: wait your turn and don't bowl at the same time as the neighboring lanes.
  • Be aware that if you're left-handed, you may have difficulty with some bowling styles and maneuvers.
