How to Visit Vienna's Schonbrunn Palace
Vienna's famous Schonbrunn Palace (Schloss Schönbrunn), located at Schonbrunner Schlossstrasse 147, was the Habsburgs' summer escape. The palace, finished in 1749, has over 1,400 rooms and boasts a zoo and greenhouse and a collection of valuable art. Follow these steps to plan your visit to the palace.

Take public transportation to get to Schonbrunn Palace. If riding the subway, get off at the U4 Schonbrunn station. If riding a bus, use line 10A. When riding Vienna's tram system, use trams numbered 10, 58 or 60.

Get tickets for Schonbrunn Palace. You can purchase tickets at the entrance of the palace. You can also purchase them online at Schonbrunn Palace's official website (see Resources below). Note that your admission ticket does not cover extras inside the palace, such as the coach collection, palace gardens, or the children's museum. Guided tours and audio headset tours are available for an additional fee. Schonbrunn Palace is a participating attraction on the Vienna Card. This card provides discounts on dozens of Vienna attractions and free access to the city's public transportation (see Resources below).

Learn Schonbrunn Palace's operating days and hours. The palace is open 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. in July and August. During April, May, June, September and October, it is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The rest of the year, it is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Other palace attractions may have different operating times than the main building; visit the official website (see Resources below) for details.
