Whether it's at Tanglewood, Symphony Hall, the Esplanade on the 4th of July or out on tour, the Boston Pops can provide an evening of entertaining music. If you would like to hear the orchestra live, here's how to catch a performance.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look online. The Boston Pops keep a calendar that lists all their concert events. You can find out their schedule and whether the event is free.

  2. Step 2

Check the Tanglewood schedule. Tanglewood is an outdoor concert venue in Lennox, Mass., where the Pops frequently play. Bring a blanket or some chairs and a picnic basket. You'll enjoy seeing the Pops in this idyllic setting.

  3. Step 3

Find the schedule for Symphony Hall in Boston. The Pops play here quite often, especially in winter. You can catch their popular holiday show at Symphony Hall if you order tickets well in advance. Seats on the floor are pricey, but balcony seats are an affordable option.

  4. Step 4

Catch the Pops out on tour. The Pops travel the country and may be heading to your area. The calendar lists the dates, places and times they're performing each month. Look ahead to find a performance near you.

  5. Step 5

Order tickets online through the Pops' website. You also can call the service and tickets number at (617) 266-1492. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Tips & Warnings
  • Besides Tanglewood, several other outdoor concerts on the tour are free.
  • Concerts at Symphony Hall are formal events. Dress up for the occasion.
