Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Pick a theme that will set the mood for the celebration. Perhaps you want food and gifts from the honoree's childhood, or maybe the guest of honor has always wanted to have a wine tasting.
Step2
Coordinate your decorations, invitations, food and drinks. Party supply stores can be great for ideas, but you don't necessarily need to have a matched set for your party decor to go together.
Step3
Provide entertainment. You don't have to hire someone to perform -- although you could if your guest of honor would like that -- but you do need to plan some activities to keep your guests entertained. Ideas include having your guests bring a photo of the honoree and building a collage, sharing memories of the person celebrating their milestone birthday, traditional party games or games tailored to the theme of your party.
Step4
Include the kids. Every family is different in terms of maturity and number of children that are in it, but since celebrating with family is the whole point, make sure the kids aren't going to get bored. If they're not old enough to participate in the adult games and celebrations, have some just for them in another area.
