Firefox is a graphical web browser licensed by Mozilla Corporation as open source software. It is maintained by a large community of contributors and has official versions for Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows. There also are unofficial versions of Firefox for other operating systems including BeOS, FreeBSD, OS/2, Solaris and Windows XP Professional x64. The following steps will show how to change options in Firefox.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Start a Firefox session, click on "Tools" and click on "Options…" to bring up the Options dialog box. Notice the 7 categories across the top: Main, Tabs, Content, Feeds, Privacy, Security and Advanced.
Step2
Select the "Main" tab to set options such as the home page, where Firefox starts, how to handle downloads and if Firefox should check to see if it is the default browser.
Step3
Click on "Tabs" to choose how new pages should be opened and whether to receive warnings when opening and closing multiple tabs.
Step4
Use the "Content" panel to control pop-up blocking, enabling java and JavaScript, fonts and scripts and how Firefox should handle certain types of files.
Step5
Go to "Feeds" to select what actions to take when clicking on a Web Feed.
Step6
Set the browsing history you want recorded, how you want cookies accepted and how you want private data handled with the "Privacy" panel.
Step7
Pick the "Security" tab to set options related to add-ons, certificates, passwords and warning messages. The "Advanced" panel may be used to set additional options on networks, updating "Firefox" and encryption.
