Diaper rashes, a common issue that affects babies who wear both disposable diapers and cloth diapers, can be painful. Parents who don't want to treat their children with chemicals can use natural, gentle herbal remedies instead. Here are some herbal remedies for diaper rash that are easy to use.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plantin leaves
  • Comfrey
  • Viola tricolor Pansy
  • Fenugreek powder
  • Lavender flowers
  • Calendula flowers
  • Elder flowers
  • Almond or vegetable oil
  • Lavender oil
  • Cornstarch
  • Sealable plastic baggie
  1. Step 1

Apply oil infused with Plantin leaves directly to baby's sore bottom to heal the diaper rash. Plantin leaf infusion can be purchased from health food stores.

  2. Step 2

Apply Comfrey in the form of ointment, infused oil or a poultice of the powdered root. It can be applied each time you change your baby's diaper.

  3. Step 3

Heal diaper rash with a tincture or cream made with the Viola tricolor Pansy. Check the ingredients in natural diaper rash creams sold at health food stores.

  4. Step 4

Mix fenugreek powder with just enough water to make a paste and apply it directly on baby's bottom. Apply it sparingly only to the affected areas. If after a few days you haven't noticed a change, try another herbal remedy.

  5. Step 5

Make your own skin-soothing diaper rash oil from the following ingredients: ½ cup each of lavender flowers, calendula flowers and elder flowers and 3 cups of almond or vegetable oil. Chop the flowers and place them in a glass jar. Cover them with the oil and stir to remove any air bubbles. Place the mixture in a warm spot for 2 to 3 days, and then strain. Apply directly to your baby's bottom.

  6. Step 6

Place ½ pound of cornstarch in a tightly sealable bag and add ¼ teaspoon of lavender oil, drop by drop. Close the bag and shake to distribute the oil. Let it stand for about 4 days. Use as needed during diaper changes.
