Seeing a celebrity or well-known sports figure up close is a treat for any fan, but getting their autograph can be more special. You Whether you are obtaining an autograph for a collection, to give as a special gift, or to sell, it's essential to know that it's authentic.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Classify the person who signed the autograph as either contemporary or classic. As a general rule, most classic signatures can be authenticated. Many contemporary signatures that are scribbles or loops are more difficult, if not impossible, to authenticate.
Step2
See if your signature is available for authentication by visiting the PSA/DNA Authentication Services website. There is a fee required for the service.
Step3
Download the submission form and complete it online. Print 2 copies. Submit one with the signature and keep the other for your personal records.
Step4
Mail the signature, the submission form and your payment to PSA/DNA at the address listed on their website.
Step5
Choose a tag. The PSA/DNA will tag your item if it is deemed authentic. You can choose to have the signature tagged with an invisible ink, which is completely undetectable to the eye and only visible under laser. You also can have the item tagged in a discrete area or on a certificate of authenticity.
