It is quite easy to show loyalty to a sports team when it's on top. After all, everybody loves a winner. You have to reach a little deeper within to be the fan of a team that isn't doing so hot. You have to reach very deep to support a team that hardly wins at all. Here is how to stand behind a losing team.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Wear your colors proudly when leaving a sporting event at which your team did not emerge victorious. It might seem tempting to remove the hat, jersey, etc. in the face of endless jeering and pointing, but do not give in! Keep your head held high as you make the long walk back to the car.
Step2
Complain about your team's long-lost power players. Be ready with comments that start with something like: "Well, if they hadn't traded so-and-so last year, we'd be in better shape!"
Step3
Get season tickets while they're cheap! That way, if your team happens to go on a hot streak someday, you can sit a games packed with new fans and complain loudly about how you were coming to these games when nobody else cared.
Step4
Begin directing your eyes toward a new horizon once the playoffs get underway. Chances are, your team will not be going for the championship this time around. Once they're out, begin telling everybody who'll listen to "just wait until next year". After all, their time is long overdue, and they're getting hungry for victory.
Step5
Treat your team like a close family member by badmouthing it during their down times while simultaneously defending it against any non-fans who might be saying the exact same things.
Step6
Remember that true fans will always be ready with unconditional love for their teams.
