Eat for Blood Type

The blood type diet is designed for your personal blood type. There is no scientific proof it works, but it's based on the research of naturopath Dr. Peter D'Adamo, who wrote the book, "Eat Right for Your Blood Type." Follow these steps to eat right for your blood type.

Instructions

    • 1

Learn what foods you should eat or avoid by researching the blood type diet online. The blood type diet is based on the theory that when you eat the wrong foods the protein lectins in those food attack specific body organs.

    • 2

Eat meats, poultry and seafood if you are Type O. Eat vegetables, but minimize use of dairy products and stay away from wheat and most grains. Engage in regular, vigorous aerobic exercise.

    • 3

Revolve your diet around vegetables if you are Type A. Becoming a vegetarian is ideal. Seafood and dairy can be eaten in moderate amounts. Take up meditation to deal with stress. Do mild exercise such as yoga or golf.

    • 4

Enjoy the most varied diet of all the blood types if you are Type B. You can eat meat, poultry, fish, vegetables and even dairy products. Stay away from wheat, corn, buckwheat or rye. Engage in moderate exercise such as swimming or walking.

    • 5

Consume animal protein in moderate quantities, especially lamb, mutton, rabbit and turkey if you are Type AB. Stay away from chicken and corn. You can eat seafood and grains, but probably should avoid wheat. Engage in meditation and calming exercises such as yoga, tai chi or brisk walking.

Tips & Warnings

  • This diet causes you to lose weight by correcting your metabolism, which is an added bonus.

  • All the blood types can eat vegetables, but each of them have specific vegetables which they should not eat.

  • All the blood types should avoid processed meats such as hot dogs or bacon since they contain cancer-causing nitrites.
