Google Earth is a wonderful invention. This satellite imagery software shows you how to look at your house and land. While doing this little bit of intelligence work, check it out by identifying the trees, garden and toys in the yard. It can zero in on a very small item on the earth. This eHow will let you know how to obtain the most current Google Earth software.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Access the Google Earth website listed in the resources below. Download a free copy of Google Earth software direct from Google. The free version allows you to explore the earth in 3D. Use the free home version to scout out where you might enjoy taking a vacation or new routes to get to work.
Step2
Receive the always current version by getting a subscription to Google Earth software. Google Earth Plus is available for a small annual subscription fee. With this version, you can take large high resolution pictures from Google Earth directly from your computer.
Step3
Think big and select Google Earth Pro. This program is the perfect software for a business. Get the highest resolution possible with a full 4800 pixels in everything you see. Another plus is that you can save over 2,000 images complete with measurements, names, addresses, and locations. This version sells for several hundred dollars.
Step4
Pull data from Google Earth into a Geographic Positioning System (GPS). This way you will be able save data from vacations in order to use them again. Download these pictures to use in presentations or other geographical publishing projects.
Step5
Import data into a file by using a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) module. This data is available for you to use at a later time (totally at your discretion). The GIS formats you will need to use are .shp and .tab.
Step6
Produce movie clips with any of the high profile destinations for a travel business. Of course, you will need to follow the licensing rules given with the software purchase.

Tips & Warnings

  • You don't have to buy a version that offers more than the free version, but you will get hooked on Google Earth once you try it.
