How to Eat Healthy at Bravo!

There's something so comforting about a great plate of Italian pasta, and the food at Bravo! is some of the best anywhere. Unfortunately, if you're on a diet, you may be wary of eating out when you don't know the nutrition information of each dish. With a little bit of common sense and portion control, you can eat healthy at Bravo! restaurants.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Start with a salad. A chopped salad will help fill you up faster and help prevent overeating. Skip the Caesar salad, however, as this is one of the most fattening items on the menu, with almost 1,000 calories and 69 grams of fat. Instead, order a light dressing on the side, and apply it to the salad as needed.
Step2
Choose fish or chicken. A grilled chicken breast will cost you about 250 calories. These are the lightest option, and they're much healthier for you than pork chops or steak, which have twice as many calories: 500-700 per serving.
Step3
Control your portion. Eat half of your dish, then take the rest home in a to-go box. That way, you aren't sacrificing flavor or ruining your diet. Ask the server to place half in a box before serving the rest to you, so that you won't be tempted by it.
Step4
Drink water and skip the vino. Wine and alcohol add unwanted calories to your meal, typically around 100-200 calories for a five-ounce glass, so stick with water or diet soda.

Tips & Warnings

  • Most restaurants have nutritional information available to their patrons, so make sure to ask for a copy.
  • The calorie counts reported by each establishment are estimates and may vary by location or portion size. Always use common sense when trying to eat healthy while dining out.
