Step 1
Obtain a weight watchers calculator or Pointsfinder slide to calculate point values of foods. You can purchase these from the Weight Watchers website.
-
Step 2
The higher the fat grams in the food and the higher the caloric content, the higher the point value; and the higher the dietary fiber grams in the food, the lower the point value. For example, a snack is one point up to 74 calories with no fat or dietary fiber, but if you add 4g of dietary fiber you can have up to 114 calories and the food is worth one point. 35 calories with 2g of fat and 0 fiber is also worth one point.
-
Step 3
Check out websites that have one-point food lists (see Resources).
-
Step 4
Find Weight Watchers foods at your local grocery or department store. Weight Watchers puts the point values right on their products and they have some great one-point foods such as chocolate snacks, ice cream, bread, candy, and yogurt.
-
Step 5
Look online for Weight Watchers recipes that offer one point snacks or get recipes from Weight Watchers recipe books and magazines. You can also find great tips and recipes on the Weight Watchers website.
