A well-decorated laundry room can make the task of doing laundry less monotonous. Turn an uninviting laundry room into an appealing part of the home by creating a space that's comfortable and functional. Pick a theme for the room reflecting your interests to make laundry day more appealing. As a workhorse of the home, an organized and well-lit laundry room is essential for completing tasks.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Define how you want to use the laundry room. Consider whether it will be a place to read, do crafts or sew while waiting for the washing and drying cycles to finish. If so, equip the room with everything needed to do those tasks as well as the laundry.

  2. Step 2

Draw your laundry room into the home's decorating scheme. Match the kitchen and laundry-room cabinetry, wall color or wallpaper. In addition, hang artwork in the room to enhance its appeal.

  3. Step 3

Outfit the room with items that reflect favorite vacation spots, hobbies, fond memories or another theme.

  4. Step 4

Select a swing-arm lamp or other task lighting to sufficiently light the room for ironing, sewing and other activities.

  5. Step 5

Use storage bins or baskets, shelving and cabinets to keep the room uncluttered, especially if it's used for several tasks. In addition, a pull-out shelf can be handy for folding and sorting laundry.
