White vinegar has been a kitchen staple for many years. It has done duty as a cleaner, neutralizer, condiment, preservative and health and beauty aid. Numerous studies report that distilled white vinegar kills 99 percent of bacteria, 82 percent of molds and 80 percent of germs. The following suggestions give you a few ideas of how to put this powerful stuff to work as a household cleaner.

      Clean the air of the odors of burnt pots or certain vegetables. Boil one-quarter cup of white vinegar with a small amount of water so that the steam circulates in the room. Add a little cinnamon or vanilla extract for extra fragrance.

      Mix 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 1/2 cup water in a glass measuring cup and bring it to a boil in the microwave. Let it stand for 15 minutes to loosed baked on food, then wipe the inside clean.

      Wipe the top of the refrigerator with full strength white vinegar. The vinegar cuts through any collected dust, grease and grime without harming the surface of the fridge.

      Get rid of a lime deposit ring in the toilet bowl by first removing as much of the water as possible. Soak rolled up paper towels in white vinegar and lay them over the lime deposit ring for at least an hour to loose the lime so that it can be scrubbed off.

      Remove perspiration stains and stains left by deodorant by spray white vinegar full strength onto the underarm and collar areas. Launder as usual.
