How to Plan a Day at Kings Island in Cincinnati, Ohio

King's Island, located about 25 miles northeast of Cincinnati Ohio, is a 364-acre family-friendly theme park, home to a collection of rides and roller coasters. The park, a sister to Virginia's King's Dominion, is open from April through October.

Difficulty: Easy

1. Get tickets, available at the park's ticket office or in advance via the King's Island website. Discounts are offered for those 62 years and older and for those less than 48 inches tall. A less expensive "after 5 p.m." admission is available as are a variety of multi-day passes.
2. See the park from the Eiffel Tower, the centerpiece of the King's Island theme park. It is a one-third scale replica of Paris' Eiffel Tower. Visitors can take the elevator to the top for a panoramic view of the park.
3. Enjoy the 40 rides rides, including 14 roller coasters and three water rides. Highlights include the twin racer coasters, where riders sit backwards through the series of hills and turns. Also popular is the Firehawk, which takes riders on a 1/2-mile steel track at speeds up to 51 mph.
4. Watch a live show geared for visitors of all ages. Recent productions have included "Dora's Sing Along Adventure," featuring the kids' favorite, Dora the Explorer; "Hot Island Rhythms," a Caribbean-themed music revue; and "Endless Summer on Ice," an ice skating extravaganza.
