Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • MDF or other wood material
  • Drill
  • Screw gun
  • Wood screws
  • Wood glue
  • Trim
  • Skills saw
  • Desk feet
  • Felt feet
  • Stain or paint
  • Shellac
  • Shellac thinner
  • Polyurethane
  • Stud finder
  • Measuring tape
  1. Step 1

Decide on a design you would like your corner desk unit to be. This will include whether you want bookshelves on the top, drawers or shelving on the bottom and so on.

  2. Step 2

Buy the materials needed for your corner desk unit at your local lumber store. MDF wood is an inexpensive alternative to other wood products if you need to keep this project on a budget.

  3. Step 3

Cut the wood or MDF to meet the design guidelines. Using a skills saw takes some finesse; don't move the blade to fast or you will split or splinter the wood.

  4. Step 4

Mark the walls with a pencil having used a stud finder.

  5. Step 5

Attach the desk to the wall using wood screws and hitting the stud each time. This will give you a sturdier desk.

  6. Step 6

Add trim to the outer edge of the wood or MDF; this will give your corner desk unit a more finished look.

Tips & Warnings
  • MDF usually has construction integrity time of about 5 years.
  • Different wood will have different levels of strength and longevity for your corner desk unit.
