How to Swap NFL Tickets

The secondary-ticket market gives people entertainment options that never existed before. Buy a few pairs of NFL tickets each season, deciding later whether the games are crucial enough to attend; or buy football seats as "collateral" to trade against tickets to other events. Improve your field position when you swap NFL tickets for better seats or something completely different.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • NFL or other event tickets to swap

Step1
Decide on what you'll take in trade for your NFL tickets. This could include seats on the other team's sidelines or tickets to a local concert that takes place the same day.
Step2
Consider whom you want to read your ad. You might post to a sports bulletin board for a simple seating or game-date switch. An entertainment website might be a better choice if you're looking to trade for concert tickets.
Step3
Initiate a trade by posting a tickets-wanted notice on a sports-forum website. Respond to swap or wanted listings that are already there.
Step4
Place a free ad in the classifieds under "Tickets" on craigslist (see Resources below). Follow the website directions for how to post to the classifieds.
Step5
Discover swap options on a ticket-broker website, such as Go Tickets (see Resources below).
Step6
Negotiate with those who respond to your posts. You can make a verbal agreement, or you can both sign a receipt when you meet to exchange tickets.
Step7
Examine your merchandise in person before completing the trade. When both parties are satisfied that the tickets are legitimate, the tickets can change hands.

Tips & Warnings

  • If this is your first swap, view some other posts to see how they were handled.
  • Trades are the most unregulated transactions of all. Be sure both parties understand each other and agree to the trade terms before relinquishing tickets.
  • Exercise caution when swapping NFL tickets with parties with whom you are not very well acquainted.
  • Don't expect an even trade for tickets of greater value.
  • Some individuals may agree to a trade and a cash premium, or you might have to provide extra cash, depending on the value of both tickets.
