Step1
Check for different martial arts studios in your area. When you call to get more information, ask if they teach a specific Ultimate Fighting style, like Muay Thai kickboxing, or if they just teach general grappling techniques.
Step2
Meet with the instructors at several Ultimate Fighting schools and try to get a sense of how they run their classes. Ask each teacher how long he has been training and teaching his styles.
Step3
Find out about the safety precautions at each school. There should be at least one staff member who is trained in first aid on site at all times.
Step4
Take a free lesson at each fighting school. You may only get to take a short half-hour lesson, but it should give you a general idea of the teaching style and the other students. Be sure that your free lesson is spent in a class of your ability if you've trained before.
Step5
Ask about sparring or competitive opportunities at each school. Sometimes you'll have a chance to spar at the end of the lesson. There are a few Ultimate Fighting schools that organize amateur competitions between their students or against other schools.
Step6
Sign up for a long-term contract if you plan to attend Ultimate Fighting school regularly. Some gyms and studios will let you pay for each lesson individually if you only go occasionally.
