The first thing needed before facing any opponent is RESPECT. Have enough respect for your opponent that you know preparing yourself to the best of your ability is absolutely necessary.
Step2
Next thing one needs to have is IMAGINATION. You must be able to see yourself competing against your opponent. If one can not at least see themselves competing against their opponent, then it will never come to pass that you will even want to. For what you see as your reality, no matter how difficult will become your reality. So if you never see yourself in the same arena with your opponent, you will never even show up to battle.
Step3
You must never place your opponent in a SUPERIOR position mentality. Never see your opponents in an unleveled or uneven light. It is very difficult, if not impossible to defeat your opponent who you view as superior to you. I would venture to say that at one point "DAVID" saw "GOLIATH" as an equal before defeating him.
Step4
You must have WillPOWER and ACTION to compete and win. I'm not talking about the type of willpower that ones has that will only stay in ones mind. I'm talking about the type of Willpower that propels one to take decisive action to bring on a positive change. In other words Willpower without action is merely wishful thinking which will produce no result.
Step5

You must have a BELIEF. Beliefs that not only can you compete with your formidable opponent but overtake them. Ladies and Gentleman these are the steps needed to defeat any opponents. APPALACHIAN STATE FOOTBALL completed the listed step on OCT 1, 2007 which allow them to defeat no. 5 rank Michigan State football team, and pull off the biggest upset in college football history.
Tips & Warnings
Don't attempt these steps against any opponent unless you posse the desire to defeat them. These steps are not for the weak at heart.

You're welcome. Yes history still stands, and as a Spartan, I prefer that it remain standing down the road in Ann Arbor. :) Step 5 still says "Michigan State" by the way.

Nice article but Appalachian State beat Michigan aka the University of Michigan Wolverines, NOT Michigan State, aka the Michigan State University Spartans.
As of 11/09/07 the article title is "How to Win and How Appalachian State Football Team Beat Michigan State Football Team at The Big House" and in Step 5 it says "APPALACHIAN STATE FOOTBALL completed the listed step on OCT 1, 2007 which allow them to defeat no. 5 rank Michigan State football team . . .".
