Candy Kabobs can be a great party treat for the young- or the young at heart. If you use marshmallow candies, you can even roast them over an open flame, but they work well with gummy or other soft candies as well.
assorted soft candies- caramels, taffies, gummy candies, mini candy bars, etc.
Step1
Decide whether you want to roast the kabobs or not. For roastable kabobs, use marshmallow candies only- marshmallows, peeps, etc. Do NOT use plastic skewers for roasted kabobs. You can assemble the kabobs yourself, making sure to keep weight evenly distributed along the skewer, leave enough room to handle the kabobs, and make sure to get a good mixture of candies for each kabob. It's best to let your guests roast them- the half-melted candies will be more difficult to handle after roasting.
Step2
For non-roasted kabobs, almost anything goes. If you can get it onto a stick, it will work. Cut up Mars bars, candied fruit, caramels, gummy candies, taffies- use your imagination. You can use either sort of skewer- and be sure to provide a good variety of candies.
Step3
For either sort of kabob, letting guests assemble their own will be fun for them and easier for you. Lay out skewers and bowls of candies, and for large parties, at least two flame sources for roasted kabobs.
Tips & Warnings
Consider colored skewers for a fun effect.
Keep a fire extinguisher handy if you plan to roast kabobs.
