Have you ever needed to hook up an external hard drive to back up schoolwork, music, games, etc? In this article you'll learn how to hook up an external hard drive to your computer.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A computer
  • An external hard drive (w/ a USB cable)
  • A power outlet nearby
  1. Step 1
    Make sure all parts of the cord are connected.

    Plug the external hard drive (EHD) into the power outlet with the power cord.

  2. Step 2

    Plug the USB cord into the EHD and into your computer. Turn the power switch on the EHD (if it has one).

    Turn your computer on. Your EHD may receive updates automatically from your computer. You can view your EHD by finding it on the "My Computer" button.
