Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- A laptop (with three USB 2.0 outlets
- An external hard drive
- A surge suppressor.
- A mouse (computer of course)
- External speakers
- A USB Hub (if your laptop doesn't have three USB ports.
- Money to purchase these materials.
Step1
Get the mouse and plug it in to your USB port. Make sure the batteries are in the mouse and connect the mouse to the PC. Make sure your laptop recognizes the new hardware.
Step2
Plug in the surge suppressor to a outlet in a wall nearby. This is where you'll plug in all of your power adapters (for your USB Hub, laptop power, speakers, and external hard drive).
Step3
Plug the external hard drive into your laptop via USB. Then if your external hard drive has a power adapter, plug that into the surge suppressor. Turn the hard drive on (if you can) and make sure the computer recognizes it.
Step4
Plug in the speakers into your laptop either via PC or in the headphone jack. Then, if they have a power cord, plug that into the surge suppressor.
Step5
If you purchased a USB Hub, plug that into your USB port.
