Maybe you're into skateboarding, surfing, in-line and you want to take your game to the next level. One of the tricks you must have in your arsenal is learning how to do an aerial. The basis to complete an aerial in skateboarding and surfing is the same as if you're just standing on the ground. Here's how to do it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Stand on a flat surface. Keep your legs shoulder width apart and relax your arms loosely by your side.

  2. Step 2

Pick a spot on the wall and focus your attention. This helps center your gravity.

  3. Step 3

Jump with your arms up, out to the side and your head facing down toward the ground.

  4. Step 4

Twist your body rapidly. This will help you keep momentum as you approach the opposite direction in which you started.

  5. Step 5

Land with your knees slightly bent. This will help absorb the shock of landing.

Tips & Warnings
  • Learn how to do a cartwheel first. This will allow your body to get used to the sensation of being momentarily suspended in air.
  • Try this with a running start when first learning. This will give you the necessary momentum before you learn how to channel it and perform the move when you're skateboarding or surfing.
  • Perform this move on grass, rubber or something soft when you are first learning.
  • Wear protective gear when performing this move on a skateboard. That includes gloves, knee pads, elbow pads and a helmet.
  • Master the art of surfing or riding on your skateboard naturally before moving onto this trick.
