How to Clean a Cutting Board
Whether your cutting board is made of wood, plastic or granite, it requires proper cleaning to remove odors and avoid germ build up. Things You'll Need
- Dish washing liquid
- Nylon sponge
- Vinegar
- Salt
- Lemon wedge
- 3 percent hydrogen peroxide
- Gloves

Place the cutting board under mild hot water to wash away any large pieces of food. Pour dish washing liquid on a nylon sponge. Rub it thoroughly against the cutting board to remove any hidden traces of food. Rinse and let it stand in the sink or dish tray to dry.

Disinfect and clean your cutting board by treating it with a solution of one part vinegar and two parts water. Pour the mixture on the cutting board and let it soak the surface for 8 to 10 minutes. Rinse well with hot water. Let it air dry by placing it in a slanted position.

Sprinkle salt on the cutting board after every use. Take a lemon wedge and rub it on the board. The salt and lemon juice will react to remove all odors from the surface. Rinse under hot water and dry.

Use 3 percent hydrogen peroxide to clean your cutting board. Dip a piece of clean cloth in vinegar and wipe the surface of the board. Proceed by wiping the board with another cloth dipped in hydrogen peroxide. Let it stand for at least 10 minutes. Rinse well with warm soapy water and dry.
