Place a baking rack in a 15 by 10 by 1 inch jelly roll pan. There is no need to grease the pan.

    • 3

Lay thick sliced bacon in a single layer on the baking rack that is in the jelly roll pan.

    • 4

Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes, turning bacon after 10 minutes. Remove from the baking rack and drain on several layers of paper towels. Serve warm.

Tips & Warnings

  • Have a fire extinguisher close by when baking bacon to use in case a fire breaks out from spitting grease.

  • Kick up your baked bacon by glazing it with a mixture of 1 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup orange juice and 2 tsps. dijon mustard. After the first 10 minutes, brush the glaze on the bacon slices and continue cooking for the last 10 minutes. Drain on paper towels and serve warm.

  • Watch bacon that is baking in the oven very carefully to make sure none of the splattering grease causes a fire.

Don't forget to save that grease. Although sausage seems to have a lot of fat content in it, I find that a couple tablespoons of bacon fat help to make a good gravy when added.
