You can stomp out a killer kickflip on your skate board. Bringing it to the water on a wakeskate is a whole other sensation. After all, part of the appeal of wakeskating is the challenge of learning new and exciting tricks that resembles what you can do on land. More and more wakeskaters are adding kickflips to their list of tricks. Done right it can look pretty sweet.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Body of water
  • Boat
  • Driver and observer
  • Wakeskate
  • Ski jacket
  • Ski rope

Step1
Get your feet in your natural riding position. A good position is with the front foot slanted halfway from the board's nose and the back foot almost an inch from the board's tail.
Step2
Right before you pop to get into the air, press down hard on the back of the board.
Step3
As you leave the water, flip the board with your front foot.
Step4
Pull your knees into chest as far as you can.
Step5
Catch the board with your back foot as it comes around from a full rotation.
Step6
To stick the landing and look like the wakeskate god you are, put more weight on your heels to get the board on edge and better controlled. Make sure your feet are in your normal position, then slide away with a big fat grin.

Tips & Warnings

  • You'll have more control of your landing if you catch the board in the air. Plus it will look really cool.
  • To do this trick, you should already be able to do an ollie and pop shuvit.
