How to Drink Less During Happy Hour

Hallelujah--it's Happy Hour time! Time to kick back after a long day at work and chug a few more drinks than you normally would because, hey, they're half price! But wait, slow down. When it's time to go home once the clock moves the prices back up, do you want to be comatose the rest of the evening? If you tend to overindulge when the prices are low, read on to learn how to drink less at Happy Hour.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Give yourself a limit. You know how much alcohol you can handle. If it's three drinks, bring enough cash for three drinks and leave your credit card at home. It's harder to limit yourself when you are out with friends and you know you have the money to spend.
Step2
Order food first. You tend to drink less when you eat. Usually there are specials on food during Happy Hour so you'll still be saving money. Order a few appetizers and split with a friend.
Step3
Drink a glass of water for every drink you order. Water will keep you hydrated, fill you up and lessen the after-effects of alcohol. Also, drink water from the time you get home until you go to bed.
Step4
Say no to supersizing. A lot of bars and restaurants convince you to upgrade your human-sized drink to a mammoth drink pored into a punch bowl. Just say no! The point of the Happy Hour is the cheap drinks…don't justify to yourself that drinking a gallon margarita is saving you money.
