Creating your own homemade hair spray is not only fun to do, but also a good way to save money. When you make your own hairspray, you choose the ingredients you want to use. It can be made using only natural ingredients or natural organic ingredients. Your hair will benefit from a product without chemicals.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Slice three fresh lemons into six pieces each and put them into a pot.
Step2
Cover the lemon slices with water and bring the pot to a boil and then reduce the heat to a low setting. Simmer the lemon slices and water for one hour and make sure to keep adding additional water as it evaporates.
Step3
Allow the water to cool to a comfortable temperature, and remove the pieces of lemon using a large slotted spoon.
Step4
Squeeze the lemon sections into the pot, adding any remaining juice to the boiled liquid.
Step5
Strain the liquid from the cooking pot into a spray bottle and refrigerate. This homemade hair spray can be used for up to a week.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adding 1 oz. of rubbing alcohol to the spray bottle will allow you to store your homemade hair spray unrefrigerated for 2 weeks.
  • If your hair is very dry, use oranges instead of lemons in your homemade hair spray.
  • Add water to the hair spray any time it becomes too thick.
