Late during the 1920s, a local newspaper prevented its staff from getting influenza during an epidemic with a unique combination of baking soda and aspirin. The head of Dr. Miles Laboratories decided to put his best chemist on creating a product containing the two ingredients. This was the beginning of Alka-Seltzer. Little did they know that Alka-Seltzer could be used for other things besides medical treatments.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Alka-Seltzer
  • Vinegar
  • Toilet bowl brush
Step1
Clean your toilet by dropping in two tablets of Alka-Seltzer and letting it sit for about 20 minutes. Brush and flush.
Step2
Unclog that stopped up drain with a dose of 3 Alka-Seltzer tablets followed by a cup white vinegar. After a few minutes, run hot water down the drain.
Step3
Scrub a pan with burned on grease. Save your effort on that pan by filling it with water and dropping in six Alka-Seltzer tablets and soak for an hour. Now you can scrub as you normally would.
Step4
Polish your jewellery by filling a glass with water and dropping in two tablets of Alka-Seltzer. Soak the jewellery for 2 minutes.
Step5
Clean a glass vase or a cruet that has been stained. Drop in two tablets of Alka-Seltzer tablets and soak.
Step6
Deodorize and clean a thermos bottle. Fill the bottle with water and drop in four Alka-Seltzer tablets. Let the mixture soak for 2 hours.
