Boarding a plane is enough of a hassle without over burdening yourself with a lot of carry-on luggage. When traveling with a baby the difficulty is even greater as you're trying to hold your baby in addition to heavy bags. Early planning and the following steps can make your boarding and in-flight experience much simpler.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Pick a bag that has a lot of compartments to help you organize your stuff. This makes it much easier when trying to find items in a cramped space.

  2. Step 2

Make a checklist of what you need to pack. Think of everything you might need and shrink the list to only those items you consider essential. Pack those items first and then pack other things if there is room in the bag.

  3. Step 3

Consider what you might need in your carry-on for the return flight and be sure to pack enough supplies in the luggage you check.

  4. Step 4

Empty your purse or shoulder bag of all non-essential flying items. This gives you additional space for more baby items if you need it.

  5. Step 5

Pack more than you think you need of your essential items in case your luggage is lost.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pack a change of clothes for both you and your baby.
  • Plan, plan, plan. At 30,000 feet, you don't want to have forgotten anything.
  • Carry your baby in a front-pack baby carrier if you are able to so your hands remain free.
