How to Wrap Steaks in Bacon

There are not many meals that are tastier than a good fillet steak. Kick that steak up a notch by wrapping bacon around it before cooking. Things You'll Need

  • Beef fillet steaks
  • Thinly sliced bacon
  • Kosher salt
  • Cracked black pepper
  • 6" wooden skewers
  • Water to soak skewers

      Choose the steaks that you want to wrap in bacon. They should be at least one-inch thick and uniform in size.

      Soak wooden skewers in water for 20-30 minutes until good and wet.

      Mix together 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper and 1 teaspoon kosher salt. Rub mixture into surface of steaks. Set steaks aside.

      Wrap one slice of bacon around each steak. Insert soaked skewer into middle of steak, poking through bacon slice and steak, from one side of steak to the other. Repeat process for each steak.

      Grill or broil bacon wrapped steaks until bacon is crispy. Let steaks sit and rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Tips & Warnings

  • Cook bacon for just a few minutes before wrapping around steak. it will be more pliable and easier to handle.

  • You can find good fillets in a grocery store but you will have better luck getting a steak cut just the way you want it by visiting a butcher shop.

  • Don't use bacon that is too thick. It will take too long to cook and the steak will be overdone.
