How to Buy a Polaroid Camera

Polaroid began a revolution in photography by introducing a camera that could deliver instant pictures. Today, the revolution continues with digital cameras, also able to offer instant pictures. If you have decided to buy a new Polaroid camera, you must read some reviews and make sure you get a good price.

Instructions

Compare digital camera models at the Polaroid website. Click on "Digital Cameras" from the "Digital Imaging" menu at the right. Review the list of cameras along with the specifications for each. Narrow your selection down to one right for you.

Look at the "Less than 3 Megapixel" and "3 Megapixel" sections to save some money if you desire 4-by-6 prints only. These cameras generally cost $100 or less. If you would like some 8-by-10 prints as well, look in the "5-7 Megapixel" and in the "8-10 Megapixel" sections. These cameras range between $200 and $400.

Read reviews for your chosen camera at DPReview.com. Click on "Camera Database" and choose "Polaroid" to locate your camera. In addition, review feedback at Steve's Digicams by choosing your model from the drop down menu on the main page. Both websites provide in depth reviews and sample images.

Click on "Where to Buy" from menu on the Polaroid website when looking at your camera. You'll see a list of retailers who sell that model. Visit the retailers to see how much the cameras cost and look them over to get some idea of their size, sturdiness and comfort in your hand.

Check online to see if you can get a better deal on your camera. Go to the Froogle website and search for your model to compare prices online.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure a Polaroid digital camera is for you. Like their instant predecessors, Polaroid digital cameras are typically easy-to-use cameras that do not offer advanced features. While this does make them less expensive, they lack manual settings.
