Prices of home theater equipment and furnishings have come down so much in the last few years that, if you have the room, many people can now afford to have a theater in their home. And if you already have a home theater, you may feel the need for bigger and better toys. Read on to determine if you would like to upgrade your home theater.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Electronics store to shop for larger television
  • High end speakers
  • Leather theater seats
  • Popcorn machine
  • Popcorn bags or boxes
  • Popcorn
  • Mini fridge
  • Cold drinks

Step1
Determine how many areas of your home theater you would like to upgrade. If you have a financial restraint, you may want to only upgrade the television. If the sky is the limit you can go ahead and upgrade the entire room.
Step2
Research the size of big screen televisions to find the next size you want to move up to. The best way to do this is to actually visit home theater stores and view the screens available. Keep up with the latest technology available in the industry to make an educated purchase.
Step3
Move up a step or two in the audio area of your home theater by upgrading to surround sound and tower speakers that are of a high quality. Klipsch speakers are an example of a high-end speaker with a good booming sound.
Step4
Upgrade your home theater seating with leather theater seats. Many come with cup holders to make you feel as though you are at a commercial theater.
Step5
Install a mini fridge for cold drinks and a popcorn machine complete with paper popcorn bags or boxes to complete the ambiance of an upgraded home theater. All of these items are available at big box discount stores such as Sam's Club and Costco.

Tips & Warnings

  • Save money by really thinking about the seating in your home theater. If you entertain by watching movies in your home then you will want as many seats in the theater as you can fit. If it is just you and your family that will be using the theater then you can get by with fewer seats.
  • Don't buy a big screen television that is too large for your home theater. The picture may not be as good as it should be if you don't have enough room between the screen and the seating in your theater.
