How to Personalize a Desk at Work
For most people, their desk is their home away from home. With all the hours put in at work, it is necessary to personalize the desk to feel more comfortable. There are many ways to personalize a desk, from the ground up. Even on a tight budget, it is possible to give a desk personality and flair.

1
Bring in photos to personalize. Pictures of friends and family allow them to be close even when they're not. Photos of vacations or beautiful scenery are great ways to daydream on breaks at work.
-
2
Get some plants. Plants not only brighten a desk, they also provide clean air. There is a wide variety of plants that thrive in a flourescent light office atmosphere.

3
Decorate the walls. Hang pictures, trinkets, or favorite quotes on the walls. A mirror is a great choice if facing away from the door to be able to see visitors come in. Most cubicles are made so that using push pins works perfectly to hang things.
-
4
Change the background on the computer. There are several options that are automatically installed on the computer. It is also possible to use a personal photo saved to the computer as a background. Either option is better than the standard green or blue background.
-
5
Buy desk accessories. Putting fun toys and figurines on the desk makes it less boring. It also gives something to play with when contemplating issues or on the phone at work. Lamps also help by making the lighting more friendly and warm, a stark contrast to fluorescent lighting.
-
6
Try a rug. Rugs add brightness to bland color schemes. Bright patterns bring life to drab cubicles.

That is full of great ideas for my home writing room. I guess you could call it my office. I also have a large yellow sign that I put on the door of my writings room that says: DO NOT DISTURB WRITER AT WORK.
