How to Pick Patio Colors

When people decide to add a patio to their home, most of them think about the final product and the materials needed to build it. However, with the ever growing options in home construction and landscape, choosing a color for your new patio is now a decision you should make early.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Use a complementary grout or gravel. If you lay your patio with flagstone or another colored stone, using a grout in a contrasting color could make your patio look ridiculous.
Step2
Look at your landscaping. While your patio colors shouldn't match your trees, flowers and shrubs exactly, make sure they won't clash. The final product will look more beautiful if it flows together.
Step3
Consider the color of your home. If you have a blue home, don't choose a rock or concrete with a warm red or orange hue. You want something complementary. You should also consider whether you plan on painting your home another color in the near future.
Step4
Consider what furniture or additions you plan to put on your patio. If you have wood furniture, it can match just about anything, but other extreme colors might clash with the rest of the patio.
Step5
Determine what type of texture you're looking at for your new patio. Some colors change, depending on the texture you use. Other can look like a different color altogether if you order something like flagstone, which is not one single color.
